Bihar Lockdown Extended: The Bihar Government on Thursday extended the ongoing lockdown in the state till May 25 after considering its positive impact in the state.



Bihar Chief minister Nitish Kumar, who made the announcement after taking stock of the Covid situation in the state during a meeting with his ministers and officials, said the government has decided to extend the lockdown further.


“The status of the lockdown implemented in Bihar was reviewed today along with associate ministers and officials. The positive effect of the lockdown is visible. Therefore, it has been decided to extend the lockdown in Bihar for the next 10 days i.e. from May 16 to 25, 2021,” he said in a tweet posted in Hindi.

This comes as the Covid-19 positive cases had fallen below the 10,000 mark in Bihar for the first time after 22 days last evening. Around 9,863 people had tested positive for the virus, according to the state’s health department.


The Covid-19 positive cases were above the 10,000 mark during April 19 to May 11 period.


In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Bihar Government had earlier extended the lockdown from May 5 till May 15.
