New Delhi: Angry locals took to streets after a bus mowed down a Class 10 student while she was on her way to tuition in Bihar’s Siwan on Sunday, news agency ANI reported.


According to the report, people created ruckus at Orma highway that comes under the jurisdiction of Mahadeva police station in Siwan after the truck mowed down the student while she was going to her coaching class. The angry locals beat up the driver and set the truck ablaze. They also protested with the girl’s body on the highway, demanding action against the culprits.


On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and dispersed the mob, ANI reported.






Notably, a video of the incident has come to light where the police and the locals can be seen engaged in a scuffle. The agitated crowd can also be seen assaulting the police officials who came to pacify the mob.






As per reports, the locals also claimed that the police extorted money from the accused and did not pay any heed to the locals. However, police later said the accused driver has been taken into custody.


After the video of the police getting beaten up went viral on the social media, several users came forward to add their opinion on the incident. One of the users wrote that it is wrong to beat up the police, however, he did agree that the police do sometimes extort money from truck drivers.


Another user wrote that this video of people beating up policemen is proof that the state apparatus is in a bad condition.
