NAWADA: Police has arrested two persons and seized a huge consignment of liquor hidden inside an LPG cylinder in Bihar, where a total prohibition is in place, on Tuesday.

In a strange modus operandi used by the smugglers, they had emptied the gas from the cylinder, cut its base and created a cavity to hide liquor pouches inside.

During questioning, both admitted to smuggling of liquor from Jharkhand into Bihar.

According to reports, around 140 pouches of country-made liquor was seized from the accused.

The Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar had first banned manufacture, trade, sale and consumption of country-made liquor from April 1, but later imposed a blanket ban on all types of liquor in the state.

As many as 4,167 people were arrested in August in Bihar for violating the new Bihar prohibition law, the highest in the last five months, with a total of 13,839 arrests made and 11,679 litre of foreign liquor and 92,291.47 litre of country spirit seized over the entire period.
