New Delhi: A day after attending the Iftaar party at former CM Rabri Devi’s residence, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar welcomed Union Home Minister Amit Shah with a bouquet of flowers at Patna airport on Saturday morning.

Kumar also went ahead to post the pictures of Shah’s welcome on his official Twitter handle with a caption that read, “Welcomed Hon'ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji at Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna.”

The welcome comes at a point when many fingers are being raised on Kumar’s Iftaar visit to ally turned rival Lalu Yadav’s home on Friday. A visit that came days after Yadav was granted bail in the fodder scam case.

Kumar also gave a statement later on clarifying that his visit does not mean anything as it has no connection with politics.

“Many people are invited to such Iftar parties. What connection does it have with politics? We also hold an Iftar party and invite everyone to it,” Kumar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

While Shah is in Bihar for the 163rd birth anniversary of Veer Kunwar Singh, the then king of Jagdishpur and regarded as one of the heroes of the 1857 Revolt, this meeting between Shah and Kumar is significant considering the upcoming elections in the state.

Meanwhile, there are also speculations that Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar might run for Presidential elections and is eying a stint in Rajya Sabha. Amidst the doubts on RJD-JD(U) ties which had hit rock bottom years ago, if this visit means something politically or not remains to be seen later.
