Buxar: In an astonishing case, several train passengers were seen rushing out of a railway station in Bihar's Buxar. They were all looking to flee to be able to avoid taking the Coronavirus test at the station.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had recently announced that arrangements have been made to conduct Covid-19 tests at all the railway stations in Bihar while people come to the state from different parts of the country amid the second wave of Coronavirus spread.

Recently, the process of reverse migration was once again being witnessed as migrant workers in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and national capital Delhi were reported to be going back home fearing another lockdown while cases in such states shot up and restrictions tightened.

In this case, passengers arrived at Buxar via the Pune-Patna Express. While the RT-PCR testing facility was available, there appeared to be no arrangements made to control this crowd of passengers who managed to leave the station without getting tested.

The requests by officials at the station were ignored and lack of police deployment is being cited as the reason behind the incident.

This is worrying considering that Mumbai and Pune are among cities battling a really bad Covid situation. Now, without any testing, those who might have contracted Covid-19 infection will assimilate into the local population, thereby, increasing the spread within the state.

Bihar reported 6,253 fresh Covid cases and 13 new deaths on Friday. A total of 1,688 people have lost their lives to the pandeminc and the tally of Covid cases in the state has mounted to 3,07,557.
