Bihar Bridge Collapse: One person died and nine others suffered injuries after a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed near Maricha between Bheja-Bakaur on Friday. District Magistrate Kaushal Kumar and other senior officials immediately rushed to the spot.

NHAI Regional Officer YB Singh, as per PTI said, "Unfortunately, one person died on the way to the hospital, and the other nine were rescued with minor injuries. They are out of danger now." 


"Adequate compensation for the deceased as well as injured victims is being arranged. Experts have been briefed and asked to assess the reason for the accident and suggest necessary remedial measures. Senior NHAI officers have rushed to the site to take immediate action on the matter," he added.














Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, who holds Road Construction portfolio, stated that an investigation has been initiated and appropriate measures will be taken against those accountable for the incident. Describing it as a tragic event, he assured that the government would ensure the affected families receive sufficient compensation.














Sinha emphasized that he maintained continuous communication with both the NHAI and the district administration, as per the report.


























Meanwhile, the bridge was being constructed to connect Bhagalpur and Khagaria districts. This bridge, which was still under construction and experienced a partial collapse, had an estimated cost exceeding Rs 1,700 crore and was originally slated for completion by 2019. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for this structure in February 2014.
