Ahead of Prime Minister Modi's reply to the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha today, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge sniped at him saying so what if he was coming to the House, and asked, 'Is he God?'. He said let the Prime Minister come to Parliament, we will keep our points before him.

"Pradhan Mantri ke aane se kya hone wala hai, kya parmatma hai woh? Yeh koi bhagwan nahi hai," Kharge lashed out.

On Thursday, Mallikarjun Kharge requested Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to allow a discussion under Rule 167 in the prime minister's presence.

As the treasury benches protested this, Kharge said, "What will happen if the prime minister comes to the House? Is he parmaatma (almighty)? He is no God." This led to a ruckus in the House after which the chairman adjourned the proceedings till 2 pm.

The proceedings in this session of Parliament have been witnessing constant disruptions over the issue of Manipur violence with the Opposition alleging that the Centre has been running away from the discussion on the topic. The Opposition also moved a no-confidence motion against the Centre, building pressure on Prime Minister Modi to issue a statement in the House on the issue.

On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi in his first speech after the reinstatement of his Lok Sabha membership ripped into the Centre with his fiery speech. He questioned the Prime Minister on his stance on Manipur and alleged that the Centre was not doing enough to control the situation in the strife-torn state. Parts of Rahul Gandhi's speech were also expunged, on which the Congress said they have approached the speaker and he has assured to look into the matter.

Today, the stage is all set for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will reply to the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha at 4 pm.
