On Friday, when the female passenger took an Ola cab to the airport from her residence at around 2 am, the driver, on the pretext of avoiding toll tax, took her to an isolated place and molested her.
The cab driver allegedly asked her to strip and pose for the pictures that he later sent to his WhatsApp number. The accused driver also threatened her saying his friends would gangrape her if she screamed for help.
“The accused reportedly asked her to strip as he wanted her pictures. He tried to strangle her when she refused. Fearing for her life, the woman complied and gave him the photos he wanted. He clicked the pictures on her phone and shared it through WhatsApp to his phone number,” the Bangalore Mirror quoted a police officer as saying.
The accused dropped the 26-year-old woman at the airport at 3 AM and told her that he would be leaving for Dubai the next day.
The victim had later registered a complaint against the Ola driver, following which he was arrested. The police have also issued a notice to Ola on the incident.
In a statement, Ola said the company has "zero tolerance" for such incidents and it has blacklisted the driver.
"We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had. We have zero tolerance for such incidents and driver has been blacklisted. Safety of customers our top priority. We are extending full support to police in the probe," it said.
