Bank Holidays April 2019: Monday, 1st April 2019 marks the beginning of the new financial year. The banking officials worked through an extended week on Saturday, 30th March 2019 and Sunday, 31st March 2019 to leverage financial transactions on the closing days of the FY 2018-19. The banking hours during the weekend were stretched till 8 pm on Saturday and 6 pm on Sunday.


Monday, 1st April 2019 was declared an off for banks across the country by the Reserve Bank of India to give the much-needed break to banking personnel as well as for smooth closing of accounts for the last financial year. As we brace for the financial planning and budgeting for the new year and analysing what worked and not worked in the last year, here’s a look at the bank holidays in FY 2019-20 to mark the dates when most of the banks will be officially off across the country in April 2019, besides the regular second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

Saturday, 6th April 2019 – Ugadi, Telugu New Year, Gudi Padwa, Sajibu Nongma Panba

Bank holiday in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Rajasthan, Telangana, Karnataka; Tamil Nadu; Maharashtra, and Manipur, respectively.

Saturday, 13th April 2019 – Second Saturday of the April 2019

Sunday, 14th April 2019 – Sunday coinciding with Ram Navami, Ambedkar Jayanti, Vaisakhi and Tamil New Year

Monday, 15th April 2019 – Bengali New Year, Himachal Day, Vishu

Bank holiday in the states Tripura, West Bengal; Himachal Pradesh, and Kerala respectively.

Wednesday, 17th April 2019 - Mahavir Jayanti

Bank holiday in Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh.
