New Delhi: All India Babri Masjid Action Committee leader Syed Shahabuddin passed away on Saturday morning in Noida hospital after a prolonged illness.
Shahbuddin, has been famously known for he was a leader of Babri Masjid action committee
He has been known for his involvement in the Shah Bano case and his opposition to the Demolition of Babri Masjid
Shahbuddin was born in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand in 1935
He began as a diplomat working for the Indian Foreign Service, but later became a politician
He was a member of Parliament of India for three terms between 1979-1996
During hispolitical career, he was the Joint Secretary in charge of South East Asia, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific in the Ministry of External Affairs
On 16 November 2012 he published an open letter to Narendra Modiregarding Muslim voters
He was involved with many Muslim institutions and organizations including the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, of which he was the President as well
