New Delhi: Amid the political heat surrounding the Ram Temple issue, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar fuelled a fresh debate when at an event dedicated to Babari Masjid, he rooted for the mosque and said that Ram Mandir may for sure be built in Ayodhya, but how can one determine the place where the Temple should stand. Aiyar spoke at the topic at 'Ek Shaam Babri Masjid Ke Naam' programme organised by Social Democratic Party of India in New Delhi.

Aiyar who made it a point to attend the event dedicated to the demolished mosque amid the entire hubbub around construction of Ram Temple at Ram Janmbhoomi, said that Congress government failed to prevent the demolition of the mosque- an event which led to the downfall of the country's unity.

Aiyar who shows no fear in courting controversies, said : “it is not a question about who the land belongs to, the question rather is whether the Indian Muslim can live here with honor or not.”

Aiyar said that December 6, 1992 is a date that shall not be forgotten as on this date the Hindu-Muslim unity of India was torn apart.

He said that the Muslims displayed their loyalty by staying back in India during partition, it is wrong to question their integrity now.

He said that those who want to build temple can go ahead but how can they claim “Mandir Wahin Banayenge”? He said that King Dashratha had thousands of room in his palace, how do they know in which room was lord Ram born?
