Delhi CM Atishi Cabinet Ministers: Atishi, who was elected as the leader of the Delhi Aam Aadmi Party legislative party, is likely to take oath as the CM on Saturday, September 21. All the ministers of the Arvind Kejriwal Cabinet are likely to be retained in Atishi's Council of Ministers as well. However, Atishi is likely to induct two new members.
Sources on Wednesday ruled out any experimentation in the Cabinet for the remainder of the AAP government's term. The new government will focus on the upcoming assembly elections scheduled a few months later.
According to sources, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Imran Hussain will be retained. Karol Bagh MLA Vishal Ravi and Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar may join the Cabinet.
Arvind Kejriwal submitted his resignation to Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday. Earlier, Social Welfare Minister Raj Kumar Anand had resigned and switched to the BJP. Vishal Ravi and Kuldeep Kumar may be included to fill the vacancies created by the two resignations in the Delhi government.
AAP sources told ABP the names of MLAs Jarnail Singh, Durgesh Pathak, Somnath Bharti, and Sanjeev Jha are also doing the rounds for the vacancy created by Atishi's elevation as the Chief Minister.
Party sources said that Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena sent Kejriwal's resignation to President Droupadi Murmu and the date of Atishi's swearing-in has been proposed as September 21. The Delhi cabinet has seven members, including the Chief Minister. The tenure of the new Chief Minister and the two new members of the cabinet will be short, as the Delhi Assembly elections are due in February next year. Before that, the Model Code of Conduct will kick in. So there will be very little time for the new faces, if any, to implement any change.
Atishi held 13 departments in the Kejriwal government, including education, finance, revenue, PWD, and power.
After taking oath as the new CM of Delhi, the new government will seek a vote of confidence at a special session of the Delhi Assembly on September 26 and 27.
