ABP News Cvoter Survey for Assembly Elections 2022: With months left for the much-awaited Assembly Elections in five states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, ABP News along with CVoter conducted a survey to gauge the mood of voters of all poll-bound states.
While the survey predicts an easy win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in four out of five states, other political parties are also in the fray to establish or strengthen their footholds in these respective states.
One such political party is Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
AAP, which is currently ruling Delhi, is expected to make significant inroads in poll-bound states such as Punjab, Goa and Uttarakhand. The ABP CVoter survey predicts a hung assembly in Punjab with AAP emerging as the single largest party, Goa is expected to re-elect the ruling BJP with a clear majority this time. However, the AAP is likely to emerge as a key political player in the state.
AAP In Punjab Elections 20222
The battle for the throne of Punjab is largely between the ruling Congress and AAP. Erstwhile NDA which included BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is no longer in contention for power in the upcoming Assembly polls.
In the latest round of opinion polls conducted in the state, Kejriwal's party is expected to bag 35.9 per cent vote share in Punjab, an increase of 12.2 per cent compared to what is got in 2017 Assembly polls.
Translated into seats there is a possibility of a hung house in Punjab Assembly 2022. AAP could be the single largest party as the party is projected to grab 49 to 55 seats. Congress may finish a strong second by winning 39 to 47 seats, SAD is likely to grab 17 to 25 seats and BJP may notch 0 to 1 seats.
The total strength of Punjab Assembly is 117 seats.
AAP In Goa Assembly Elections 2022
Despite the fact that the coastal state of Goa is expected to re-elect the ruling BJP with a clear majority in the upcoming Assembly polls, it cannot be avoided that the Aam Aadmi Party is also predicted to emerge as a key political player in the state, giving a tough fight to the Congress for the slot of the main opposition party.
As per the latest round of opinion poll jointly conducted by ABP News and CVoter, while the vote share of BJP is expected to witness a jump of 5 per cent from 32.5 per cent in 2017 to 37.5 per cent in 2022, the vote share of AAP is likely to go up by 16.5 per cent from 6.3 per cent in 2017 to 22.8 per cent in 2022.
Meanwhile, the vote share of Congress is expected to witness a dip of 10.1 per cent from 28.4 per cent in 2017 to 18.3 per cent in 2022.
Converting vote share into seats, BJP is expected to win 24 to 28 seats in Goa, AAP is likely to grab 3 to 7 seats and the Congress can secure 1 to 5 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state scheduled next year.
The total strength of Goa Assembly is 40.
AAP has emerged as a principal challenger or a close third party in Punjab, Goa and even in Uttarakhand whereas Congress is facing severe infighting across all the state units with Punjab and Manipur being the worst-hit states.
