Assembly Elections 2022: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the BJP Central Election Committee meeting is underway. In this meeting names of candidates for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections will be finalised. The high-level meetings of BJP regarding the upcoming assembly elections in five states including UP have been going on for the past two days.


Candidates May Be Announced In Couple Of Days


Once a decision has been taken, the names of the candidates for the first and second phases may be announced in a couple of days. In the past two days, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union General Secretary BL Santhosh, CM Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, Dinesh Sharma, and other senior party leaders were in a constant discussion regarding the names of the candidates. Union Ministers Amit Shah, Anurag Thakur, Dharmendra Pradhan & UP CM Yogi Adityanath are also among the attendees. The meeting will continue today.





Flurry Of Resignations In BJP


Meanwhile, there are speculations that more resignations are expected in the Yogi government in UP and BJP in the last two days. According to sources, there is a list of a total of thirteen MLAs who might quit BJP. Swami Prasad Maurya has already warned of something big happening on January 14.


7 MLAs Already Resigned From BJP


On Tuesday, January 11, Cabinet Minister Swami Prasad Maurya announced his resignation which created a major stir. He was accompanied by three other MLAs who left BJP. The very next day, on January 12, Forest and Environment Minister Dara Singh Chauhan also resigned. Thus, in UP, the BJP has lost a total of 7 MLAs in two days.
