NSCN (IM) is a banned militant organization of Nagaland which is also active in the Tirap district of adjoining Arunachal Pradesh. This organization has carried out major attacks against the army and other security forces in this area. There are reports of NSCN getting financed by China and receiving arms and training from the neighboring country.
In 2015, the Government of India had tied up with several Naga organizations including NSCN - 'Naga Accord' to establish peace in the North-East states. But the NSCN was adamant about having its own flag and constitution. The Government of India rejected these demands, due to which, the agreement came to an end. NSCN is believed to be preparing for violent conflict again. However, the encounter on Saturday has foiled these notorious plans of NSCN.
Meanwhile, reportedly, the Indian army has killed the militants who were infiltrating the LoC through Jammu and Kashmir's Naugam sector adjacent to Pakistan.
