Kanpur: UP Police has arrested two people who already have a criminal background for helping two wanted gang members hide at their place in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior. The arrested are reported to be  - Om Prakash Pandey and Anil Pandey who aided two wanted criminals - Shashikant Pandey and Shivam Dubey who have been a part of Vikas Dubey's gang. They were sheltered by Om Prakash and Anil for about four days before being shifted to another hideout.

The two have been booked under Section 2016 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for sheltering the criminals and the matter is being proceeded further.

Shashikant Pandey and Shivam Dubey are both wanted for the Kanpur Encounter case and reportedly, there is a reward of Rs 50,000 for anyone who turns them in.

Kanpur encounter case main accused Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter on Friday. Dubey had been caught by the police in Ujjain on Thursday morning after almost 6 days of an extensive search operation that spanned several states.

He has been absconding and had come to Ujjain to offer prayers at the temple, where he was identified by a security guard.

The gangster was the main accused in the encounter that took place in Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur last week. A team of police had gone to arrest Dubey when his group of assailants had opened fire at them, seven police personnel were killed in the encounter.

The case caused a major controversy when it became apparent that Vikas Dubey was tipped & being aided by someone on the inside.
