Assam Rifles on Tuesday foiled PLA’s plan to disturb peace in Manipur after it apprehended two PLA insurgents from Telipati and Heirok area of Imphal valley in Manipur. 


It informed in a tweet that five grenades, three pistols, three IEDs, and three detonators were recovered from them. 






According to the news agency ANI, Assam Rifles said that during investigation, the apprehended insurgents confessed to their plans to target non-Manipuri locals, security forces and to disturb the celebrations during the festive season in the Imphal valley. 






Earlier this month, Assam Rifles recovered a huge amount of foreign currency in Mizoram and apprehended two individuals in the Siaha district.  


“Lunglei Battalion of #AssamRifles on 03 Dec 2022, recovered huge amount of Foreign Currency & two individuals were also apprehended near Zawngling, Block Tuipang, Siaha District,” it said in a statement on Twitter.  


The PRO of IG of Assam Rifles (East) said that the operation was carried out near the Zawngling area, Block Tuipang of Siaha district based on specific information, reported ANI.  






“The team had specific information about the movement of a vehicle on the Siaha -Tuipang- Zawngling- Chankang road axis. The Assam Rifles team established a Vehicle Check Post which intercepted the vehicle. During the search operation, a huge amount of Myanmar and Indian currency was recovered. Two persons were also apprehended,” the PRO of IG of Assam Rifles (East) said.
