Assam will host the first Sustainable Financial Working Group (SFWG) meeting and Youth 20 Inception event in February as part of India's year-long G20 presidency. The theme for G20 is 'One Earth. One Family. One Future' with the motto of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam".

The first SFWG meeting would be held on February 2-3 at the Hotel Radisson Blu in Guwahati, news agency ANI reported citing official sources. 94 delegates from G20 member countries, guest countries, international organisations, and government officials from India will attend the two-day meeting, the report said.

The first day's programme includes a yoga session and three SFWG seminars. According to the report, the first-day programme will conclude with a River cruise, 'Ratri bhoj par samvaad,' and a cultural event.

The second day will also include a yoga session, three side event sessions, the fourth SFWG session, and a dinner for delegates at the Brahmaputra Heritage Centre, as stated in the report.

Adil Khan, the Nodal Officer for the G20 summit in Assam, stated that it is an honour for Assam to be chosen to host five prominent G20 activities, the report said.

"The delegates have started arriving for the first meeting will be held on February 2-3. The first meeting is the Sustainable Financial Working Group. Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed all the departments that it should be a memorable event for all the foreign delegates visiting Assam and should provide them with all facilities," Khan was quoted as saying by ANI.

"We have organised a cultural welcome for them at the airport and we have highlighted our cultural history," Khand added of the preparations for their arrival. "Arrangements have been arranged for similar accommodations, and all meals will include traditional Assamese cuisine as well as millet components. On Sandbar Island, we have organised a cultural programme that has been developed by our tourism department. We also chose Kaziranga National Park as a destination for the delegates, and elaborate arrangements have been prepared. Aside from that, there will be the opportunity to explore the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. We hope that this will be a memorable occasion. Each and every delegate will go back as cultural and tourism ambassadors of Assam to their respective countries," Khan added, as per the report.

Following the first G20 meeting, there will be a Youth 20 event in Guwahati on February 7-8. 250 delegates will attend the Youth 20 Inception event at Hotel Radisson Blu and IIT, Guwahati.

More than 400 students from Assam's various academic institutions would take part in the Youth 20 Inception event. This is the first of several events on the five Y20 themes to be hosted across India in the run-up to the last Y20 summit in August 2023.

The Youth 20 event will focus on the following themes: peace and reconciliation, the future of work, climate change and disaster risk reduction, youth in democracy and governance, health and well-being, and sports.
