New Delhi: Rubbishing the fraud case registered against him in Maharashtra's Nashik, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot has said “false allegations” as well as “manipulated stories” will surface as the assembly elections, scheduled for next year, approach.
“I have no information and no connection to the case in which my name has been dragged in the media. We all know that as the elections approach, false allegations as well as manipulated stories will surface,” he tweeted in Hindi.
Earlier on Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sought a clarification from the Rajasthan Chief Minister on the matter.
“The name of the Chief Minister’s son is being heard in this Marathi news, the honourable Chief Minister must clarify. The people of Rajasthan wish to know only the truth,” Rajasthan BJP chief Satish Poonia wrote on the micro-blogging platform in Hindi citing a Marathi news channel’s video clip.
Vaibhav Gehlot, who is also the Rajasthan Cricket Association chief, is as per the report accused of being involved in a fraud pertaining to sanctioning a tender for a project with the state’s tourism department, PTI reported.
Earlier on March 17, an FIR was registered against 14 people, including Vaibhav Gehlot and Gujarat Congress worker Sachin Purushottam Valera, in Nashik.
Sushil Bhalchandra Patil, the complainant, has alleged that Valera presented himself as someone close to the Chief Minister’s son and fraudulently obtained Rs 6.80 crore from him on the pretext of landing him a contract with the Rajasthan government.
