AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi expressed concern on Friday about the legality of the alleged encounter in Uttar Pradesh that resulted in the death of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad's son Asad and an accomplice.
He stated that an investigation would be conducted in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines, but that "so-called encounters" should not occur.
"Indeed, whether it's Umesh Pal or Raju Pal, we sympathise with them." Because those people were assassinated. How can we show our support for those who committed the murder? But there is a procedure, a law, and a Constitution. You will be punished. Who is holding you back? "You get them life (incarceration)," he said.

The UP Police charge sheet filed before the court mentions a recorded statement of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed. "I have no dearth of weapons because I have direct connections with Pakistan's ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Weapons from Pakistan are dropped along the Punjab border with the help of drones. My local connection collects them. Terrorists in J&K get weapons from these consignments. If you take me with you, I can help you recover that money and arms and ammunition used in the incident," the charge sheet cites Atiq. (ANI)
"Today's and recent encounters should be thoroughly investigated and the culprits should not be spared," tweets Samajwadi Party chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav.
