New Delhi: With the Opposition parties continuing protests during the Monsoon Session leading to adjournment of the Houses, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a meeting with top ministers to discuss the union government's strategy in Parliament.


Union Ministers including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Pralhad Joshi, Anurag Singh Thakur, Kiren Rijiju, Piyush Goyal were present in the meeting, news agency ANI reported.


Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned for the first four days of the Monsoon Session following opposition protests. The Houses were adjourned minutes after assembling without any productivity.


Today, both houses were adjourned till 12 noon followed by Lok Sabha till 2 PM and Rajya Sabha till 2:30 PM as opposition parties tried to raise issues of price rise and GST on daily essentials.

Opposition Protests Over Inflation, GST


On Thursday, there was Opposition uproar in Parliament over Congress President Sonia Gandhi's appearance before the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald Case.


"Both Sonia-Rahul Gandhi went to SC but (National herald) case wasn't dismissed. They're out on bail. They harassed PM when he was CM. Yesterday they didn't let Parliament function even when we accepted to discuss the price rise issue. They think they're above law," ANI quoted minister Pralhad Joshi as saying today.


The Opposition parties are protesting over their demands related to price rise and imposition of GST by the Centre on some items of daily use. 


Earlier in the day, Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh gave ajournment motion notice in Lok Sabha on the issue of unemployment and Congress MP Manickam Tagore gave an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha on the issue of the recent GST rate hike.


Additionally, Five CPI(M) MPs including Elamaram Kareem gave notices to the Rajya Sabha Chairman for disallowing permission to introduce Private Members' Bills of BJP MPs- 'The Uniform Civil Code in India Bill, 2020' by KL Meena and 'The Places of Worship (Spl Provisions) Repeal Bill, 2022' by HS Yadav.
