The Tihar jail released an official statement on Wednesday over the health condition of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after the Aam Aadmi Party claimed that he lost 4-5 kilograms of weight in 12 days since his arrest. Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in the Delhi excise policy case and remanded in judicial custody till April 15 on Monday after which he was sent to Tihar jail.
Earlier in the day, Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi claimed that the AAP national convener who is "severely diabetic" lost 4-5 kgs of weight since his arrest. In a press conference, party leader Dilip Pandey said that Kejriwal's weight before the arrest was 69.5 kilograms which has reduced to 65 kgs after his arrest.
He also added that his sugar level has dropped to 46.
"We fear that BJP can do anything to fulfil its political interests," he said.
Refuting the claims, the Tihar jail released an official statement saying that his weight has remained constant since the arrival to the jail to date and his vitals statistics are also normal.
"On arrival on 01.04.2024, Arvind Kejriwal was examined by two doctors and all vitals were normal," said the jail in its official statement.
"Also, his weight is constant at 65 kg, since arrival to jail and till date," it said adding that home-cooked food is being provided to him as per the court order.

"His vital statistics are normal," the statement read.
The statistics on Kejriwal's vitals, obtained by ABP News showed that the Delhi CM's weight on April 1, when he arrived at the jail and the subsequent two days was at 65 kgs. However, the Aam Aadmi Party is claiming that his weight has reduced in the overall 12 days since he was first arrested by the ED on March 21.
The AAP chief's sugar level was at 139 on April 1, 182 on April 2, and 140 on April 3 while his blood pressure was measured at 120/82 on April 1, 121/83 on April 2, and 116/82 on April 3.
