Security forces on Friday (August 7, 2020) foiled the nefarious designs of terrorists by busting a major terrorist hideout in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.


The Indian Army and J&K Police carried out a joint operation in Shashitar forested area (Dingi Cheer) in the Poonch district along the Line of Control (LoC) after gathering specific intelligence inputs about the terrorist hideout in the area, reported Indian Army's 16 Corps based out of Nagrota.


During the joint operation, the security forces achieved a major breakthrough by busting a terrorist hideout in the remote Shashitar forested area, ( Dingi Cheer), in Poonch. The security forces also recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, including two AK- 47 rifles and four magazines.

Earlier in July 27, security forces had busted two terrorist hideouts in Shopian and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir and recovered a huge stash of explosives and some ultra-modern IEDs.

According to the reports, a joint operation was launched by Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF’s 178 Battalion and Shopian Police on receiving inputs about the presence of militants from the Lashkar group in the Dachoo Zainpora orchards in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
