The army will also display the BLT T-72 ‘Bharat Rakshak’ tank, the 155mm Soltum Gun, and the BrahMos Missiles.

The Indian Army was officially formed on April 1, 1895. However, on January 15, 1949, General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief, handed over the baton to Lieutenant General KM Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. Since then, January 15 is marked as the Indian Army Day.

On the occasion, Gallantry awards and Sena medals are awarded. In 2020, Captain Tania Shergill became the first female officer to command an Army Day parade. In the same year, 15 soldiers were laurelled with the bravery awards.
