Mumbai: Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police has demanded custody of dismissed officer Sachin Vaze in sensational twin cases of planting a gelatin sticks-laden Scorpio near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani and the subsequent death of SUV owner Mansukh Hiran.
Vaze is the main accused in the case, while a retired encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma is among the other accused in the case.

The Crime Branch told the NIA court that on the complaint of businessman Bimal Agarwal, a case of extortion has been registered against Parambir Singh and Sachin Vaze at Goregaon Police Station.
It also claimed to have gathered some evidence in the case, which is necessary to inquire about.
Application related to Sachin Vaze is scheduled for hearing on October 22.
Meanwhile, Vaze's lawyers had filed an application in the Special Court seeking three months home arrest as the 52-year-old former cop has undergone an open heart bypass surgery at a private hospital on September 13.
Vaze's counsel pointed out that after getting discharged, Vaze should not be sent back to Taloja jail as he will not get proper treatment and will be at high risk of contracting more infections.
Court has asked the jail hospital to file a reply after which the court will take a call on Vaze's custody.

Vaze had reportedly informed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that following Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh's orders, he had collected Rs 4.70 crore from bars in Mumbai between the period of December 2020 to February 2021.
In August, ED has filed first charge sheet in connection with the case and Deshmukh's personal secretary Sanjeev Palande and personal assistant Kundan Shinde have been named in it.
Deshmukh has been accused of extortion from a bunch of Mumbai orchestra bars and of money laundering.
