Security forces killed two terrorists in the Anantnag encounter, according to authorities on Monday. According to the police, one terrorist was already dead when the encounter started on Sunday night in Tangpawa, Jammu & Kashmir.


Taking to Twitter, the Kashmir Police stated: "Anantnag EncounterUpdate: 01 more #terrorist killed. #Operation going on. Further details shall follow."






"Two local categorised terrorists linked with the proscribed terror outfit LeT were killed in the Anantnag encounter today. They were involved in several terror crime cases," said ADGP Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar. 


The operation is still in progress.


According to the police, two separate encounters last week in the Jammu and Kashmir district of Shopian were part of a combined operation between the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police that resulted in the death of four terrorists.


According to police statements on Wednesday, three terrorists were killed in a clash on Tuesday night in the Drach neighbourhood of the Shopian district.


The clash in the Shopian neighbourhood of Moolu resulted in the death of another local terrorist.


"Jt op launched by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice today. Area cordoned & contact established. A firefight ensued & 01 terrorist was eliminated. 01 soldier injured, evacuated to 92 BH & stable. 01xAK Rifle & other war-like stores recovered," Kashmir Police said.


During the gunfight between security personnel and terrorists, one soldier was hurt.


Three local terrorists affiliated with the outlawed terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were slain in the initial engagement that took place in the Drach neighbourhood of Shopian. In contrast, one local terrorist affiliated with the outlawed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was neutralised in the second engagement between the security forces and the terrorists in the Moolu district of Shopian this morning.
