Union Home Minister Amit Shah was found to be infected with novel Coronavirus infection on Sunday. The Minister took to his official Twitter handle to inform about the development saying he had mild symptoms following which he tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. ALSO READ | Amitabh Bachchan Tests Negative For COVID-19, Discharged From Hospital

"On getting the initial symptoms of corona, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors." Shah tweeted in Hindi.


He advised all those who came in his contact in past few days to isolate themselves as a precautionary measure and to avoid the spread of the deadly Coronavirus disease to others.

As soon as the news broke out, people from all walks of life including politicians, leaders, celebrities poured in wishes for the speedy recovery of Amit Shah.

Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda, Vijay Rupani, Mamata Banerjee, Harsimrat Kaur were among the first few leaders who posted Get Well Soon wishes for the leader on Twitter.

"Got to know the news of honorable Home Minister Amit Shah being infected with Coronavirus. I pray to God for his speedy recovery," BJP's national President Jagat Prakash Nadda said in a Twitter post.


West Bangal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed sympathy and posted a get well soon message for Shah. "Heard about the Union Home Minister Shri  Amit Shah Ji being tested positive for COVID-19. Wishing him a speedy recovery. My prayers are with him and his family."

Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also wished Shah on Twitter by saying "My good wishes for your speedy recovery Adarniya Amit Shah ji. With your resolute determination and strong will power you will soon come out of this."






The unfortunate news has come at the time when India crossed touched the 17-lakh mark on Sunday by recording nearly 55,000 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours.

The country recorded a jump of over 1.5 lakh cases in the past three days. As many as 853 casualties took place in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 37,364. Of the 17,50,724 cases, 5,67,730 are active cases, while 11,45,630 have been cured.
