Before 30th southern zonal meeting in Kovalam, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday praised the 'rich culture and heritage' of Kerala, and stated: "Every Indian is proud of Kerala."


Sharing images of the cultural programme in Thiruvananthapuram on his official Facebook page, Amit Shah wrote: "Blessed to be in this beautiful state on the auspicious festival of Onam."

In Thiruvananthapuram, the Union Home Minister preside over a meeting of the Southern Zonal Council on Saturday.


The meeting is being attended by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, news agency ANI reported.

Shah landed in Kerala on Friday evening and was greeted by a big gathering. The Home Minister also thanked the people of Kerala for their love and affection.


Earlier on Friday, Shah on his official Twitter handle said: "Reached Thiruvananthapuram to chair the Southern Zonal Council meeting. Grateful to the people of Kerala for their love and affection."

Following the meeting, the Home Minister will speak at a BJP-organized meeting of delegates from various Scheduled Castes (SC) organisations in Kazhakkoottam.
