Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and stated that "before 2025 Mamata didi's govt will collapse," news agency ANI reported. Shah is in the state to improve the party's organisational infrastructure ahead of the rural elections next month.

Speaking at 'Jan Sampark Samavesh' rally in Birbhum, Amit Shah stated: "The only way to remove the crime of 'Didi-Bhatija' is BJP. The only way to free Bengal off terror is BJP. The only way to stop infiltration in Bengal is BJP...Give us 35 seats in 2024, there will be no need for 2025 (West Bengal poll); before 2025 Mamata didi's govt will collapse."

Shah said while Mamata Banerjee might be dreaming of making her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, the CM, however, the next chief minister would be from BJP.

He stated: "...Mamata didi, you might be dreaming that your nephew will become the CM after you. From here in Birbhum, I say that the next CM is going to be from BJP. The trailer has to be shown in 2024 (general elections)."

Shah stated that nobody will dare to assault Ram Navami rallies in Bengal once the BJP wins in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He went on to say that Narendra Modi will be the PM after the general assembly elections, PTI reported.

Later this evening, he would meet with state party leaders in a downtown hotel to assess the organisational condition.

Shah's visit to Bengal is part of the BJP's 'Pravas' effort to bolster its organisation in the country's 144 Lok Sabha seats, which it lost by razor-thin margins in the 2019 general election.

In the 2019 elections, the party won 18 of Bengal's 42 Lok Sabha seats.
