BJP, Sena relations:
The relations between Sena and BJP have been straining for a long time as both parties have been taking jibes at each other and Sena has been very vocal about being unhappy with ally BJP in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, and they further strained after Palghar by-polls.

This comes after NCP chief Sharad Pawar asked the Shiv Sena to join hands with the opposition parties the against the BJP in next year's Lok Sabha polls. All those parties who believe in democracy and having a common minimum programme (CMP) should come together in 2019 polls, he said.

"In Palghar Lok Sabha bypolls, Shiv Sena, CPIM and Bahujan Vikas Aghadi were polled more votes than the BJP. Hence, the opposition parties should unite against the BJP," he claimed.
