Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend three important events in Gujarat's largest city, Ahmedabad, on Sunday, ranging from the opening of Municipal Corporation schools to the 6th All India Prison Duty Meet (AIPDM), news agency ANI reported.

As part of his day-long visit to Gujarat, Shah would first unveil Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation smart schools at 9 a.m. in the Ahmedabad district's Nawa Vadaj region.

Later, from September 4-6, the Minister will attend the 6th All India Prison Duty Meet at TransStadia in Ahmedabad's Kankaria, a biannual event organised by the Bureau of Police Research and Development.

Shah will preside over the function, which will be attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi. The three-day event is scheduled to draw administration and police department officials from roughly 19 states and union territories.

AIPDM was last held in Ahmedabad in 2007, for the second time.

At about 7 p.m., the Home Minister will take part in the Curtain Razor of the 36th National Games-2022 and the Closing Ceremony of the 11th Khel Mahakumbh at TransStadia, Kankaria.

From September 27 to October 10, Gujarat will host the 36th National Games, officially known as National Games Gujarat 2022. The National Games will begin with a ceremony at the PM Modi stadium in Motera. As part of the festival, 36 various games will be held in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, and Bhavnagar.

Notably, the previous National Games were held in Kerala in 2015. The games are being held after a seven-year hiatus for a variety of reasons, including the pandemic. The National Games' symbol depicts Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's Statue of Unity and the Asiatic Lion of Gir.

In March of this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 11th Khel Mahakumbh at the Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad.
