New Delhi: Ahead of the Budget Session of the Parliament, the Modi led-government on Monday held an all-party meeting to discuss issues and legislative business for the upcoming Budget Session. The meeting was chaired by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh.


In the recently concluded meet, 25 parties participated and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on behalf of the Govt, said that only the President's address and tabling of the Budget happen will be in the first half of the Budget session," said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.






Pralhad took to his Twitter handle and informed, "RM Shri @rajnathsingh Ji chaired an all-party meeting in the Parliament today. The meeting was attended by floor leaders of various political parties".






Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, "leaders of all parties have assured that they will cooperate in running the Parliament".






The meeting which was held at 3 pm today discussed opposition's issues as the meeting was held between the BJP Parliamentary Executive Committee and a meeting of the floor leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).


This is a customary meeting usually held before a Parliament session begins every year and floor leaders of various political parties take part to discuss the smooth functioning of the upcoming Budget session under the chairmanship of the Lok Sabha Speaker.


Notably, the Union Budget will be presented by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman at 11 am on February 1. The first half of the Budget session will take place between February 2 and 11. Then, there will be a nearly a month-long recess till the second part of the session commences on March 14 and ends on April 8.
