Mumbai: Ajit Pawar, today thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, day after he sworn in as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra. Pawar thanked PM Modi and assured him of a stable government in Maharashtra.

Many BJP leaders took to Twitter to congratulate Pawar for forming the government along with Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra. Pawar has also changed his Twitter bio to "Deputy CM of Maharashtra" and has thanked 18 BJP leaders on Twitter in past 30 minutes.

“Thank you Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji. We will ensure a stable Government that will work hard for the welfare of the people of Maharashtra.” Pawar tweeted.

Meeting of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLAs chaired by party Chief Sharad Pawar is underway at Hotel Renaissance in Mumbai. Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray and Sanjay Raut are also present.

According to ANI, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray while addressing the NCP MLAs said,"Do not worry, this relationship will go long, our alliance will go a long way".

In a shocking turn of events, , Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar on Saturday were sworn in by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari .

The surprising hush-hush ceremony took place after Shiv Sena, the NCP and the Congress alliance had reached to a conclusion that Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will be their chief ministerial candidate for a full five-year term.

The Supreme Court on Sunday issued notices to the Maharashtra government, state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, his deputy Ajit Pawar and the Centre, and asked for relevant documents and letters of support from MLAs by 10 am tomorrow.

The top court while hearing the NCP-Sena-Congress plea against BJP-lead government formation in the state said appropriate orders will be passed tomorrow.
