Air Force On Path Of Transformation To Absorb New Cutting Edge Systems: IAF Chief

Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari on Tuesday highlighted the need of a strong military and the importance to adopt to new technologies. Speaking ahead of the Air Force Day in Delhi the Air Air Chief Marshal said, "As the battlefield of tomorrow transforms & becomes more technology-driven, we too are innovating to stay ahead of the curve. I want to assure citizens of the country that IAF is ready to take on the future & we'll continue to touch the sky with glory," reported news agency ANI.

"Recent events in global landscape have clearly indicated that presence of strong military is imperative to ward off threats via deterrents & if deterrents fail, to neutralize them. Armed forces IAF will continue to remain a linchpin for it," the air force chief added.

He spoke of how the Indian air force continues to be "actively deployed" and vigilant. The Air Chief Marshal also emphasised on the need to expedite the operationalisation of recently inducted systems like the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) among others.

"We continue to be actively deployed while at the same time expediting the operationalization of recently inducted systems like Rafale, LCA and S-400 among others," said Chaudhari, as reported by ANI.

"We're looking forward to inducting LCA Mk 1A, HTT-40 trainers, indigenous weapons & different radars. The LCH has been inducted into the Air Force yesterday & I'm confident that the helicopter will add teeth to the IAF's strike capability," he added.

While speaking about Chinese Air Force activities along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) Chaudhari said that the Indian Air Force has increased the presence of radars & air defence networks in the region to strengthen vigilance.

"Disengagement has taken place in areas along the LAC. We're keeping an eye on Chinese Air Force activities. We have increased the presence of radars & air defence networks. Appropriate non-escalators measures have been taken in time," said the air force chief.

For the first time, Air Force Day flypast will be held at Chandigarh's Sukhna Lake - outside Ghaziabad's Hindon base - on October 8.
