New Delhi: With the announcement to resign from the post of Congress President, Rahul Gandhi had said that others must also take the accountability of the defeat. Although Rahul didn’t point towards anyone, his gesture was towards the senior leaders of the party. Now, days after Gandhi’s resignation, there are reports that Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi can also resign from her post. Sources said that if the senior leaders did not offer the resign soon, then the next resignation would be of Priyanka.

To make the pressure on senior leaders, Uttar Pradesh general secretary and in-charge Jyotiraditya Scindia also resigned on Sunday. He said that he takes the responsibility of losing the Lok Sabha elections and resigns as the General Secretary of the party. Mumbai Congress President Milind Deora also resigned on Sunday.

Resignations of Jyotiraditya Scindia and Milind Deora are also important because these they have a close relationship with Rahul Gandhi and are both young leaders. But this attempt of Scindia and Deora have so far not done any good as no senior leader has offered to resign so far.

With Gandhi’s exit from the top post, it has become difficult to decide the person who would mediate between the young leaders of the party and the senior leaders.  Now other youth leaders of Congress like Jitin Prasad and Sachin Pilot have also stood next to Rahul Gandhi. Both have been pressing that it is time to act on the “accountability” factor mentioned by Rahul.
