Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was found to be infected with novel Coronavirus infection on Sunday. The Minister himself informed about the development saying that he has been hospitalised on the advice of doctors post-testing positive for the deadly COVID-19 disease.


"I have tested positive for Coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors," Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa Tweeted.





He advised all those who came in his contact in the past few days to isolate themselves as a precautionary measure and to avoid the spread of the deadly Coronavirus disease to others.


"I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine," the minister said.


Karnataka is still one of the worst affected states which have recorded as many as 1,29,287 till date. Of these, there are at least 73,219 COVID-19 active cases present in the state while 2,412 have succumbed to the deadly disease. Meanwhile, the number of containment zones in Bangalore city crosses 20,000.


The unfortunate news of the minister being infected with the deadly disease has com hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah was found to be infected with novel Coronavirus infection on Sunday. As soon as the news broke out, people from all walks of life including politicians, leaders, celebrities poured in wishes for the speedy recovery of Amit Shah.


Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda, Vijay Rupani, Mamata Banerjee, Harsimrat Kaur were among the first few leaders who posted Get Well Soon wishes for the leader on Twitter.
