The search was on for the Uttarakhand's 'most-wanted' with helicopters and drones were pressed into service but the the forest officers were unable to trace the tigress.
Special task force personnel, tamed elephants, hunters and dogs were engaged to trap the animal, but it remained elusive for one and half month.
The three-year-old animal was responsible for killing two villagers and injuring several others since September. The state government is said to have spent around Rs. 1 crore to trace and gun-down the big cat.

Angry residents joined the task force in the combing operations.
Villagers broke into celebrations and paraded with the dead animal's carcass as forest officials gunned down the predator after conducting extensive searches.
