New Delhi: Amid massive disruptions in flight operations across North and central India due to dense fog conditions, visuals have emerged on social media showing passengers having meals on the airport tarmac, next to an aircraft.
In a viral video, passengers of a Delhi-bound IndiGo flight diverted to Mumbai were seen sitting and eating on the airport tarmac at Mumbai Airport.
Sharing a video post on X, a user wrote, "Passengers of IndiGo Goa-Delhi who after 12-hour delayed flight got diverted to Mumbai having dinner just next to IndiGo plane."
IndiGo responded to the incident, saying "We are aware of the incident involving IndiGo flight 6E2195 from Goa to Delhi on January 14, 2024. The flight was diverted to Mumbai due to low visibility conditions in Delhi. We sincerely apologise to our customers and are currently looking into the incident."
In another incident, a passenger on an IndiGo flight violently attacked the plane's pilot as he was issuing a delay announcement. A guy in a yellow hoodie suddenly jumped up from the last row and attacked the new pilot, who had replaced the previous crew owing to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) standards after many hours of delay.
In response to this incident, Delhi Police stated: "We will take appropriate legal action against the accused," news agency ANI reported.
Following the incident, IndiGo has filed a complaint against the passenger and the process of filing the case is underway.
