New Delhi: When the deadly virus has wreaked havoc across the country and doctors stood tall to save as many as Covid patients. The second wave has been dreadful than the first as the peak in the latter has seen nearly 1 lakh cases per day but the second wave which hit the country after several unlocks the government announced has seen the numbers skyrocketing with more than four lakh cases a day. A severe health crisis hit the country that led to economic doldrums and many families were left in shambles. 


On Thursday, renowned cardiologist Dr Naresh Trehan has shed light on how important it is to take jabs and following Covid protocols On the ABP News' 'India vs Corona e-Conclave 3.0'. "Youngsters should be very careful as the heart ailments post covid in the younger age group have increased. The second wave peak was much higher than the first wave and this was due to the unlock and people are still not understanding the importance of following basic Covid protocols guided by the government. People should respect the efforts putting in by the doctors. Media has also played a pivotal role in creating awareness but people should carefully follow all the guidelines."

When asked about the importance of vaccination, Dr Trehan said, "Getting vaccinated can bring significant change as it is protective and people should understand this very well. Youth should come forward to take jabs. Also, the government should take stern actions against people who violate Covid norms."


"India is not as strong an economic country as The US or the UK there have been a lot of heart-wrenching stories when the second wave hit the country as many people lost their loved ones and the country came to a standstill economically," he added.


Speaking about the heart diseases as post-Covid complications, Dr Trehan said, "People already having heart ailments are having more of heart attacks and other section of people are who are young have been facing heart issues after being infected with Covid. With vaccine availability is increasing the youngsters should come forward to get jabs. That can prevent people from having serious health issues."
