Abhinandan's resumption of duty will depend on his medical test: Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa

He further said “Abhinandan had to undergo an ejection, which takes a lot of toll on one’s body, If one undergoes an ejection once, and they have to undergo it again, one would land on a wheel chair” he said.

New Delhi: Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa on Monday addressed a press conference and spoke about the recent air strikes conducted by the Indian Air Force targeting the Pakistan-based terror camps in Balakot. IAF Chief while speaking to media expressed his uncertainty over Wing Commander Abhinandan’s resumption of duty.

Speaking on the same while addressing a press conference and responding to the question if Abhinandan would be flying a fighter plane again, Dhanoa said “We don’t take chances with medical fitness of a pilot; if Abhinandan is fit he will fly fighter jets”.

He further said “Abhinandan had to undergo an ejection, which takes a lot of toll on one’s body, If one undergoes an ejection once, and they have to undergo it again, one would land on a wheel chair” he said.

“I have also undergone an ejection and I know how it is. Therefore, one has to be extremely fit to be a fighter pilot” he said. He also said that “This is the reason that the selection process of a fighter pilot is very difficult”.

IAF chief further said “I can't comment on the politics, happy Abhinandan is back”.




IAF pilot Abhinandan who was in Pakistan custody for over 50 hours after he underwent a back injury after he ejected himself out of his MIG-21 fighter plane.
