New Delhi: The Delhi government’s is planning an education model that aims to train students to become "future entrepreneurs".
Education Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has said students from Classes 11 and 12 of Delhi government-run schools will get a seed funding of Rs 2,000 under the new initiative, Business Blasters, to support their innovative business ideas.
Sisodia said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is investing in the Indian economy with this initiative.
The programme, launched under the ‘entrepreneurship mindset curriculum’, is aimed at developing young entrepreneurs at the school level.
“When we had allocated a budget of ₹60 crore for this project, we knew that it is the seed money for the country's economy,” PTI quoted Sisodia as saying in an interview.
The AAP leader said the only way to make India an economic powerhouse is to have an entrepreneurial mindset, adding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led government is working on this.
Sisodia emphasised it is mandatory for every student to take part in the ‘Business Blasters’ programme.
Accordingly, 3 lakh students studying in Delhi government schools created nearly 51,000 teams and submitted as many business ideas.
The first episode of the 'start-up show', Business Blasters, was aired on AAP's YouTube channel on November 28. The episode showed Sisodia interacting with the students, who talked about their projects and investment plans.
The students working on Hebi Naturals, which makes home-made compost, shared their ideas.
With their entrepreneurial mindset and skills towards carrying forward this idea into business development, the students did research and used an earthen pot method to prepare compost.
Hebi Naturals, which aims to protect the environment and spread greenery all around, received Rs 60,000 investment and an advance order of Rs 10,000.
“We are still in disbelief that we are receiving this money. We will now expand our ideas," said Harsh, one of the students working with Hebi Naturals.
