AAP Demands PM Modi To Sack Delhi LG For Illegally Awarding Contract To Daughter, Saxena Responds

AAP Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson Sanjay Singh also sought for legal proceedings against Delhi LG VK Saxena.

Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to 'immediately' sack Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena alleging that the latter misused his power to give a contract for interior designing of a Khadi lounge in Mumbai to his daughter while serving as Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) chairman.

Addressing a press conference earlier in the day, AAP Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson Sanjay Singh also sought for legal proceedings against Saxena and said that awarding the contract to his daughter Shivangi Saxen is a violation of law.

"I want to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi why he has kept tainted LG. You have to remove him. The LG will have to resign", news agency IANS quoted Singh as saying.

"LG VK Saxena, during his term as KVIC chairman, misused his position and awarded a contract for interior designing of a Khadi lounge in Mumbai to his daughter. In awarding the contract, he violated the provisions of the KVIC Act 1961," he alleged.

"Prime Minister should immediately sack Mr Saxena as the Delhi LG and legal action should be taken against him for illegally awarding the contract to his daughter, the AAP leader said.

Singh pointed out that the Khadi Village Industries Act says that no family member can be given work, they have violated this act. "AAP will consult the lawyers in this matter and take legal recourse in the matter. Earlier, being the President of KVIC, during the time of demonetisation, many scams and scams were committed," he said.

Furthermore, Singh also said that his party welcomed investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, but asked why no case is being registered against the LG.

Delhi LG On KVIC Contract Accusation

Responding to the allgeations, office of Delhi LG accused AAP leaders of "touting fake figures" on the development of the KVIC lounge in Mumbai.

"The @kvicindia has issued a letter categorically stating that the entire cost of execution of the project of its Mumbai Lounge was Rs 27.3 lakh, contrary to fake figures being touted by leaders of a political party," the LG secretariat tweeted from its official handle.

The recent banter between AAP and Delhi LG comes a day after Saxena slammed Kejriwal for resorting to "diversionary tactics and false accusations" after he flagged various issues, including irregularities in the government's excise policy.
