Sindhudurg (Maharashtra): In a tragic incident, eight out of eleven engineering students from Karnataka's Belgaum in Karnataka drowned in the sea off Malvan, Sindhudurg on Saturday afternoon.
The students belonged Maratha Mandal Engineering College in Belgaum.
Reports say three students among the 11 were rescued by local fishermen at Wayri Beach.

According to newsagency IANS, one of the students is in serious condition and undergoing treatment at Malvan hospital.
The students were part of a 46-group that had gone for a picnic at the picturesque Wayri Beach.
Reports say the students who ventured into the sea ignored warnings from the locals following which strong currents pulled them into deep waters.
The body of students which included two girls were retrieved in rescue operations.
