New Delhi: Secretary of Tourism Ministry Arvind Singh on Friday said that the ministry has kept five priorities in four meetings of G20 for India and world tourism, as reported by the news agency ANI. He also said that a plan is being chalked out to promote digitalisation, MSMEs, skill development, destination marriage organizations, and youth employment in the tourism sector.


"We've kept 5 priorities in four meetings of G20 for India and World tourism, we are chalking out a plan to promote digitalisation, MSMEs, skill development, destination marriage organizations, and youth employment in the tourism sector, " Arvind Singh told ANI.






He also said that the ministry is also working on rural tourism. "We are working on rural tourism to improve the experience and promote best practices with suggestions from international boards. We are planning archaeological tourism; the slides of India’s tourist sites will be shown to all delegates," Arvind Singh said as quoted by ANI.


Earlier on Tuesday, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy launched the 'Visit India Year 2023' initiative and unveiled its logo in New Delhi, kicking off the year of grand plans and activities for promoting tourism in India. On the occasion, the Union Minister said that this is an important year as India is heading G20.


The Union Minister also said that more than one lakh foreign delegates will visit India this year and they will be showcased the entire gamut of India's culture, including monuments and festivals, ANI reported.


G Kishan Reddy added that each foreign delegate of G20 will be a brand ambassador of India's culture, heritage, and tourist destinations. Encouraging inbound travel and particularly in the backdrop of India's G20 Presidency, the Ministry of Tourism is celebrating this year as 'Visit India Year 2023'. The focus is on inbound travel to India, to highlight the varied tourism offerings of our country and showcase them to global tourists.


The priorities include highlighting the unique tourism offerings of every state by leveraging the country's richness in culture, heritage, spirituality, and natural beauty and focusing on promoting diverse categories of tourism like sustainable tourism, rural tourism, medical tourism, MICE, and others, as reported by ANI.
