4 Out Of Every 5 Families In Delhi-NCR Suffering From Ailment Related To Pollution: Survey

Delhi government has implemented the GRAP-IV rules to curb the alarming rise of pollution in the region.

New Delhi: The rising air pollution and declining air quality in the National Capital has become a concern with people complaining of pollution-related ailments across Delhi-NCR. 

In a recent survey conducted by LocalCircles, four out of every five families in Delhi-NCR complained of experiencing pollution-related illness. "Four in five Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) families surveyed have someone experiencing pollution-related ailments: 18 per cent have already visited a doctor or a hospital," the survey mentioned, as reported by news agency PTI.

The survey found that 80 per cent of the families surveyed have at least one member who is facing some kind of respiratory trouble due to air pollution. While talking about the nature of discomfort, 80 per cent families said their members are "facing multiple issues due to the pollution", while 7 per cent denied of facing any problem at all due to the pollution.  Meanwhile, 13 per cent claimed to be unaffected by air pollution as they were not living in Delhi-NCR at the time, the news agency reported.

When a similar question was asked after Diwali, 70 per cent respondents had complained that someone in their family was experiencing the same pollution-related illness. It shows that the number had risen by 10 per cent in a matter of few days, during which 13 per cent of the respondents left Delhi-NCR temporarily.

To avoid the impact of air pollution, some have temporarily moved out of the national capital region, while the majority of those remaining are paying a heavy price.

The outcome is from a survey conducted on 19,000 people comprising residents of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad by LocalCircles with 63 per cent of respondents being male.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Friday took the responsibility for the stubble burning in Punjab during a joint press conference with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.

The air quality of Delhi-NCR remained ‘severe’ for the third consecutive day with stubble burning accounting for 30 per cent of the PM2.5 pollutant in the capital on Friday.
