Four people were killed and 2 injured after a speeding truck ran over them while they were sleeping on a road divider at the DTC Depot Redlight crossing in Seemapuri area of Delhi. Two people died on the spot, one was declared brought dead & the fourth died during initial treatment, said the police, as reported by news agency ANI.


"At 1:51 am, an unknown speeding truck mowed down 4 people & injured 2 persons who were sleeping on the road divider, while crossing DTC Depot Redlight in Seemapuri. Two people died on the spot, one was declared brought dead & the fourth died during initial treatment," the police said.


The police has filed a case in this regard and formed several teams to nab the driver of the truck.


"The 4 deceased persons are- 52-year-old Kareem, 25-year-old Chotte Khans, 38-year-old Shah Alam & 45-year-old Rahul. Two injured are- 16-year-old Manish & 30-year-old Pradeep. Several teams formed to trace the vehicle involved. Case filed under appropriate sections, the police said, as Reported by ANI.


Manish, a resident of Harsh Vihar in Sahibabad, who was injured recounted the incident.


"I came here around 8 pm last night to sell scrap items. It took some time and after having dinner, I slept on the divider. The vehicle first ran over my hand and threw me on other side of the divider,” he said, as reported by PTI.


“It then ran over the other people sleeping on the divider, hit a pole, and sped away," Manish, another victim discharged from the hospital, said.


According to the police, the offending vehicle has been identified,reported PTI.
