Imphal: An earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude on the Richter Scale hit Manipur's Churachandpur region in the wee hours of Monday. The moderate intensity quake struck Churachandpur district in the southwestern part of the state at around 5.15 AM.

There has been no report of any loss of life or damage to property as yet. No casualties have been reported so far. In the past couple of days, the north eastern state has regularly been struct by moderate intensity earthquakes.

On Sunday at around 10.19 AM, an earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck off Senapati district in Manipur. The quake hit at a depth of 50km in Senapati, according to the Indian Meteorological Department. Similarly, on January 25, an earthquake with a 4.0 struck Chandel district of the state. Three hours later, another earthquake of magnitude 4.6 hit Churachandpur.
