Indian Army Completes First Ever 3D Printed Houses Within Four Weeks In Gujarat — WATCH VIDEO

Using the 3D Rapid Construction Technology helped MES construct two fully 3-D concrete printed, modern-day dwelling units, with Green Building concepts in only four weeks.

New Delhi: The Military Engineering Services (MES) completed the first-ever 3D Printed houses at South Western Air Command at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The 3D Printed houses were inaugurated in presence of Engineer in Chief Lt Gen Harpal Singh, Indian Army officials said according to ANI. 

According to a TOI report, concrete 3D printing is an automated manufacturing method for constructing three-dimensional real-life structures. The technique utilizes a concrete 3D printer that accepts a computerized three-dimensional design file from the user and fabricates a 3D structure in a layer-by-layer manner by extruding a specialized type of concrete specifically designed for the purpose.

The concrete modules are first built inside a factory, MES built two houses within four weeks using the 3D Printing Technology in construction. The foundation is laid out, then the modules are assembled. After which the finishing touches are like laying out tiles and painting. They only took 30 days to complete instead of a few months.

IIT-Madras startup Tvasta was the first to construct 3D printed houses within its campus, these take far less time to construct as opposed to traditional houses. These houses can be completely personalized without using too many materials and are affordable.
