New Delhi:Pakistan on Thursday violated the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowgam and Krishna Ghati sector, prompting Indian Army to retaliate. Three Pakistani soldiers have been killed by Indian Army while responding to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan.

Army denied Pakistan's claim of 5 Indian soldiers being killed in ceasefire violations along the Line of Control.

The response by the Indian Army came after Pakistan military's spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor claimed that three of its soldiers and five Indian personnel were killed in the cross-border firing.

In a tweet, Ghafoor also alleged that the Indian Army has increased firing along the LoC in an effort to divert attention from the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Citing sources, news agency ANI stated that Pakistan Army soldiers have been killed in punitive proactive response after ceasefire violations by Pakistan Army. Ceasefire violations taking place in Uri and Rajouri sectors.

At about 7 am on Thursday Pakistan initiated Ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and shelling with mortars in Krishna Ghati Sector, in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The firing continued for several hours and finally stopped at 5:30 in the evening.

Indian Army retaliated befittingly to the violation and shot down three soldiers of Pakistan. There is no information on death of any Indian soldier so far.

On August 8 also, soon after breaking diplomatic ties with India, Pakistan violated ceasefire for the second consecutive day by resorting to mortar shelling and small arms firing on forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.
