New Delhi (Unnao Rape Case): Expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar was on Friday awarded life term in the 2017 Unnao kidnapping and rape case by a Delhi court. District Judge Dharmesh Sharma also imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh on Sengar, out of which Rs 10 lakh will go to the victim as compensation and Rs 15 lakh to the prosecution.

The CBI had sought life imprisonment for  Sengar, convicted for raping a woman in Unnao in 2017, saying it was a fight for justice of an individual against the system.

The victim and her family have already been provided with home for one year which could be extended if there's a security lapse. "Thereafter, I am asking CBI to assess the threat measures and all possible efforts to protect her.," the court said.

The court had on Monday convicted the Bangermau MLA for the rape of the woman in 2017, when she was a minor.
